The slender achiever
The LiDE 500F combines breath-takingly slender design, outstanding functionality and an ultra-stylish finish. Drawing all the power it needs from a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection, the scanner's slim size and integrated stand allow you to operate your scanner in a variety of different ways - even upright.

Flexible performer
When the scanner is upright, a double hinge lid allows 'drop-in' scanning. With the stand folded away, open the lid completely out to scan oversize objects such as maps or posters. The lid also opens parallel to accept bulky items such as books.

High resolution
A 2400 x 4800 dpi CIS sensor combines with 48 bit colour depth to deliver high resolution scans, accurately reproducing every fine detail and subtle shade.

FAU
The LiDE 500F features a super-compact Film Adapter Unit (FAU) for scanning strips of 35mm film, with astonishing results.

Automatic retouching
Canon's FARE Level 3 is the ultimate film correction system. Infra-red light detects the precise location of dust and scratches, later corrected with advanced software to save hours of manual retouching. Faded colour, excessive graininess and poor exposure can also be corrected with FARE technology. QARE Level 3 offers similar functionality and levels of correction for photo prints.

Speedy scans
With a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface, zero warm up time and 6 second preview, the super fast LiDE 500F saves precious minutes with every job. Multi-Photo Mode creates individual cropped and straightened files from a single scan pass of up to 10 separate images.

Scan to PDF
A 'Scan to PDF' function scans documents straight to PDF format. A floating palette of PDF pages is created, which can be arranged or ordered at will. Text is automatically embedded in PDF files at time of scanning, allowing editing and searching.


Seamless
Scan A3 pages by 'stitching' two scans together with the Image Stitch function. For exceptionally faithful colour reproduction, 'Easy Colour Matching Print' passes full colour information to supported Canon inkjet printers.

Software
Software supplied includes ArcSoft PhotoStudio image editing and OmniPage SE OCR. To help keep you organised, CanoScan Toolbox sits always-at-the-ready on your desktop, allowing you to customise the four EZ-buttons for common functions, such as copying, scanning direct to e-mail and straight to PDF.
